The AMP Global Strategies (AMP) Gun Shot Detection System powered by EAGL Technologies is a single source solution which detects live gunfire by using an energy-based analysis algorithm to detect a gunshot and eliminate false alerting. Unlike other solutions that use listening devices to detect a gunshot, with their patented energy-based analysis our technology eliminates individual privacy concerns and ensures compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Additionally, the system contains automatic 911 emergency notifications where available and a mass notification system alerting personnel, public safety, and emergency managers.
The AMP Safe Schools solution contains a Ballistic Analysis Function, an Access Control Module, and Camera Control Function. Additionally, each school building will be equipped with a camera weapon detection system which can use an existing security camera feed which immediately alerts the correctly vetted individuals when a drawn weapon is detected in the viewer area. This project proposes a weapon detection systems integrated with the existing camera system at each building. This module allows for the detection of an un-holstered weapon before a suspect enters a building. This is designed to send a lockdown alert at the quickest possible moment. If a suspect were to breach a building, the system is designed to trigger two more cameras showing public safety and/or other correctly vetted responders where the intruder/suspect is travelling. Updates would also be sent from the gunshot detection system if a firearm were discharged sending the quickest possible update directly to first responders with location information. In either case, a weapon detection or gunshot discharge, on site law enforcement in the form of a School Resource Officer (SRO) or responding police, narrow their search for the suspect, saving time and lives. These are designed to be used at times when 911 cannot be called but an incident is so critical that immediate public safety intervention is required.
The AMP solution is also integrated with the access control functions in the building when available. This assists during two critical times. The access control functions can be used to immediately and programmatically lock down areas of the building. This slows an active shooter and buys time for a law enforcement response. By limiting access and slowing a shooter, time is saved which results in saved lives.
The second benefit is access control via the incident or unified control center. With direct access from an onsite or offsite command system, a supervisor can monitor the entrance camera. When law enforcement arrives, the access control system can be remotely activated to let that responder into the building. Based on the location of the threat, this access control activation may be a door other than the main entrance. It also may be an interior door locked down to slow an intruder.
The final phase of this project is the mission critical communication system integrated as part of the overall project. This system performs in the same manner as a two-way radio however it operates over a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) which is more commonly known as a cellular device or the existing in school Wi-Fi system in any areas of the building where an LTE system is unavailable. Each building is provided its own channel or group. There is no limit to thenumber of groups or channel a building may have. A typical system may have an administrative channel which can be accessed only by administrative personnel. This allows them to communicate with each other from any place in the world. You would then have a building channel on which all teachers and staff could communicate with each other during day-to-day operations. Add value is in place by adding nurse and bus operations to the communication system. While we focus on buildings for critical events, the transportation system remains a potential target. Having instant communications in the transportation system also allows critical communications during life-safety events. Such events can include simple events such as an accident or seizure on a bus or a major event such as an active shooter. This system also is integrated with a school radio system. It extends the radio system to a worldwide reach by installing radio bridges accessed via a cellphone link. First Responders and administrative staff who may be off campus would have access to the radio system from any location in the world. The mission critical communications system is designed on a user rights platform. Public Safety have access to their own radio system from the device. School officials would not have access to these radio channels however an administrator may have listen-only privileges so he/she can monitor an identified potential threatening situation. Public Safety would not have access to day-to-day school groups to again ensure that Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements are respected and in place. The system deploys common channels shared by all users during which police and fire can communicate instantaneously and in unison with school officials.
In addition to voice communications, the Mission Critical Communication System contains a panic button. This panic button sends an alert to public safety in the form of an audio and video stream. At the single push of a button, public safety can hear and see what the nature of the emergency is. This immediate alert saves time which ultimately saves lives. In addition to the audio and video stream, the panic button also sends GPS location information immediately.
